We cruised from Durban on the MSC Sinfonia on the 1st Feb 2010. The Sinfonia cruises without much warning at 2pm, so passengers be ready or else you might miss it (it's very gentle until you leave the harbour when there are 3 large blasts on the horn and you start to feel the swells).
Here's a photo of the passenger terminal at Durban Harbour (N-Shed). Look how small the people look from the top of the Sinfonia.
The viewing deck gets packed whenever the MSC Sinfonia is leaving or arriving at a port.
It's interesting to look at the variety of ships in the harbour going about their jobs as part of the world economic machine:
The Avenir Valletta:
The beautiful view of Durban harbour port with the city in the background:
Eukor's morning Margareta moored in Durban harbour.
Here's tugs guiding the Libra Mexico ship in Durban harbour:
Here's the tugboat which led us out of Durban.
The Pallieter moored in Durban harbour.
GAL Stellenbosch in Durban harbour:
As we were about to exit Durban harbour, we saw the National Sea Rescue Institute.
ID North ship with the Southern Venture alongside it (note the lush vegetation on the Durban harbour mouth):
