In the 2004/2005 financial year Flight Centre South Africa closed US$365 million worth of transactions, or 5% of the total worldwide transactions which Flight Centre closed in that year (US$6.8 billion). Flight Centre South Africa faces the serious challenge of disintermediation in the travel industry, with an increasing number of passengers dealing directly with airlines through their websites rather than going through a travel agent.
