An SA Roadlink bus crashed around 0330 on the morning of the 3rd June 2008, on the road near Paradise Valley in Durban just after the Marianhill Toll Plaza. At least fifty seven (including 13 children) of the 74 people on board were injured (but not the bus driver), of which one lady was critically injured. The KwaZulu-Natal Transport Department speculated that the crash may have been caused by the bus driver falling asleep.

The bus, on its way from Johannesburg to Durban railway station, was travelling on the N3 national road (Western Motorway) when it hit the centre barrier and veered into the oncoming carriageway, ending up on its side.
