Mango Airline planeMango's 10% discount for packing lighter

From 1 August 2008 until the 31st August Mango Airlines are giving passengers who clock in for a flight with less than fifteen kilograms of luggage a ten percent discount voucher on their next Mango flight (a amart move, as that not only incentivises passengers to travel with less, but also to keep on flying Mango).

Each kilogram that an aircraft travels lighter saves Mango some R40,000 a month in aviation gas costs. Mango's Chief Executive, Nico Bezuidenhout, claims to have put the measures in place to "keep travel affordable", and suggested that Mango's aircraft are almost thirty percent "more fuel efficient than some older fleets in the skies" (wonder whether he's pointing fingers at 1time airline?).

Mango & FNB introduce mobile phone bookings

At the same time as introducing the discounts for lighter luggage, Mango also launched the mobile phone flight bookings (if you have an FNB account).
