Today we write to you from Midrand, Johannesburg - we've been doing a whirlwind tour of the North-West Province (visiting Bakubung Lodge, the Sun City resort and the Hartbeespoort Dam), and on the way reviewing Comet Car Hire's unique offering and making use of the Greatguide...more about this later, but in the meantime have a read of our review of our 1time flight from Cape Town to Johannesburg.
Back to today's flight survey. We had a look at flights from Johannesburg to Cape Town, and it looks like things have returned to normal with Mango being cheapest (BA was cheapest in a little while back). The Currie Cup rugby semifinals are on the 17th Oct 2009, so the the price of flights on the 16th October may rise once it becomes clear where the semis will be played (hopefully one of them in Cape Town!).

After catching a flight to Hoedspruit in a little propellor driven plane, 4 American girls found their game ranger (Craig) who would take them to Paradise Camp and introduce them to the joys of the Kruger National Park - meals cooked over the fire, bright night skies, shooting stars and the sound of leopards whilst you sleep (unfortuanately they missed seeing the cats). Cara's quote sums up the trip: "This safari was the first time I truly felt like I was in Africa." And we cannot leave out this quote about the 2 game rangers (both named Craig): "They are completely offensive, politically incorrect men who’ve been living in the African bush without electricity or any modern amenities for years. They smoke a pack of cigarettes a day and drink rum like it’s water. But you couldn’t help but love them! They’re also brilliant and the best safari guides we could ever ask for."
Ever eaten chocolate pizza?! Whilst in Johannesburg, I ate some to-die-for Belgian chocolate, that was shaped as a pizza. Only R95 for a chocolate pizza, including delivery in the Johannesburg area. To order, email Chris at everlea@gmail.com
