Mango R542 Friday flight |
9 October 2009 flights |
Mango's R542 flight price in the latest Friday night survey is not bad, although there's not much happening on the weekend of the 9th October to negatively influence flight prices - school holidays are over, no public holiday and we doubt the Breedekloof Outdoor Festival or the ISES Solar World Congress in Sandton will have a big impact on flights.

After 30 hours in transit from San Francisco to Johannesburg an exhausted "Panda" arrives at Johannesburg's O.R. Tambo International Airport wanting to fly to Cape Town and finds his 2.5 hour layover is just enough to get through the queues!
all 3 lines at the customs area had overflowed making it impossible to tell which line started where
struggled to get on his 0700 flight, being told that his flight was actually 0945 (when it said 0700 on his ticket)
I hope that the rest of Panda's stay in South Africa went better.

We didn't catch a flight over to New Zealand, but were mightily impressed with the Springbok win in Hamilton. We as a nation have come a long way since being flour-bombed there in 1981. The first time ever that New Zealand have lost in Hamilton. The first time since 1949 that New Zealand have lost 3 games to South Africa in a season. World Champions, Trinations Champions, Freedom Cup holders and the number 1 rugby team in the world. Take a bow John Smit and Pieter de Villiers. We at SouthAfrica.TO are feeling feeling very proudly South African.
"Suddenly a large African bull elephant was spotted dismantling a huge tree...As we approached with extreme care, cameras at the ready, the elephant got the hump, shaking its head violently and let out a huge 'go away' noise from its trunk, it looked to me as though it was going to charge. Andy Blackburn, a member of the s.a.s, was in the back of the jeep with us. Suddenly he stood up and pointing at the elephant, started to sing: 'We're Reading, we're Reading and we'll kick your f$%#*&^ head in', a truly verbal assault on the animal, just like he did at Reading FC football matches. Everyone burst out laughing, including the 2 guides. But the elephant didn't like it and made gestures towards us that made our guides do a full jeep reversal procedure to get us out of there." extract from Gary May's "If it's not in the trolley, you can't have it".
