Perfect for cheap flights |
5 Jun 2009 flights |
Perfect conditions for cheap flights - no public holidays on the weekend of the 5th of June, no school holidays and no major events on in Durban (about the biggest thing happening that weekend is the British & Irish Lions playing the Free State Cheetahs in Bloemfontein). So, no surprise that Mango is offering R503 and 1time R529 for a flight from Johannesburg to Durban (but interesting that premium class flight prices have increased).

Not only do Emirates often offer the cheapest flights, but they have now increased their baggage allowance by a hefty 10kg across the classes (to 30kg in economy class, 40kg in Emirates business class & 50kg in first class).
Flight price inflation in South Africa is the lowest we've seen it, with flight prices having decreased 8.8% over the year to 18 May 2009. Inflation for long-distance buses is running at +8.6%.
Sorry for those flying at the front of the plane. The cost of SAA Premium Class tickets (their name for business class) have risen above R2000 for the first time on the Johannesburg - Durban route (previous highest SAA premium class price was R1897 in the 22 Nov 2008 survey). Whilst BA's Club Class tickets also now cost above R2000, it is not the first time.
Timothy travelled from Hogsback to Bulungula, where he paid a local $4 to take him fishing. After catching a 2.5 foot fish they cut a V-shape under its jawline and left it to suffocate. The fish's gills were gasping for oxygen and its body was tensing up every 30 seconds....and Timothy was wondered whether he should become vegeterian, as he watched the life being squeezed out of this creature.
"Rookie flight attendants are always struck down by every available illness when they start the job. Their close proximity to the general public and the constant circling of foul air means that they spend their first 8 months or so with streaming colds and constant flu. Then, just when they think they cant take any more, they cross some sort of immune-system Rubicon, and they are never ill again. They develop the constitution of an ox." an extract from Imogen Edwards-Jones's Air Babylon, available for purchase from Kalahari.
