Saving R1212 on a BA flight |
20 Mar 2009 flights |
We had a look at prices of one-way flights from Johannesburg to Cape Town on the 20th March 2009 (leaving between 1729 and 2036), and BA had a record price - but read on, we'll show you a way we could have reduced our BA flight price by R1212. The 21st March 2009 is a public holiday - not sure if this had an impact on prices (e.g. BA recording a record high flight price on the route).

Book your BA flights on the Kulula website to get a cheaper price! Whilst R1989 is the cheapest flight I could find on the BA site, it's possible to book BA flights for less on the Kulula site! All you do, is look for the flight codes with 4 digits (those are actually BA flights), e.g. MN6435 is actually a British Airways flight. On the Kulula site you can book a flight on MN6435 for R891, on the BA site it costs R2103. This and other hints can be found at our tips for cheaper flights.
Human Rights Day falling on the 21st of March 2009 may hae influenced these flight prices - R1989 is the highest flight price we have seen from BA on the Johannesburg to Cape Town route (for economy class tickets).

Jamie Sherman travelled from Hartford to Johannesburg for the greatest adventure of her life. She plans on visiting Shingwedzi, Skukuza, and Cape Town; and has set up a special blog to tell us of her travels. However, up to this blog it was Johannesburg Airport (where she got to in a business class seat - lucky lass) and the City Lodge Hotel.
"Airports are notorious for sending Rush bags. It usually means that they are in danger of losing their takeoff slot and have decided that it is better to fly the passengers without their bags than miss their take-off time by packing the plane properly. The bags are only supposed to hang around for twenty-four hours before they are loaded onto a plane, otherwise they have to be checked again by security before they are allowed to fly." Imogen Edwards-Jones, as quoted in her book, Air Babylon (available from Kalahari).
