Today we write to you from Cefalù, a little town in Sicily (Italy), where we are busy trying to avoid Italy's mafia bosses and do some research for a new travel site (it's still in an embryonic phase of development, but here's a preview of what we think of Cefalù).
Back to business - if you haven't booked your end-of-year flights yet, you're probably too late to get them cheap - 1time Airline, BA, SAA and Mango are already recording their most expensive flight prices since our 8 December 2007 survey (when prices were seasonally higher), and Kulula is not far off having come in with their most expensive flight price since 1 March 2008. Interlink Airline are happily keeping flight prices down, quoting R698 (including all airport taxes) for a one-way economy class ticket from Cape Town to Johannesburg.

Business class tickets
Cheapest business class tickets from Cape Town to Johannesburg are also with Interlink Airlines (R1709). SAA & BA's business class ticket prices have crept up slightly. An interesting phenomenon we've noticed is that the price of business class tickets is much more stable than economy class tickets (perhaps business class flyers don't shop around as much, so there isn't as much competition on a price basis).
City to City buses are cheapest
Cheapest of the cheapest are City to City buses, which are going for R380 for a one-way ticket from Cape Town to Johannesburg. Average bus prices (R580) are the highest since 8 December 2007 (R601).

Melissa does the V&A Waterfront again
Melissa Faith Yeo is one of the few people who have won our blog of the week twice...but then she is special... Melissa, a Singapore model, took tons of photos of the V&A Waterfront, before turning down an invitation to go clubbing in Cape Town (she rather wanted to get some shut-eye).
