Avis was cheap, but not quite as cheap as Hertz Car Rental South Africa, which generously gave us a quote of R0 for the weekend!

A group of public relations and journalism students from the University of Southern California are doing a stint at the Cape Times (a Cape Town newspaper), and in this blog entry they are kind enough to share what their first day was like (with lots of photos included).

"The European Transport Commissioner, Jacques Barrot, in Brussels is smart, but his assistants are real idiots. The huge success of the BSCA’s (Brussels-Charleroi) low-cost agreement with Ryanair exposes the stupidity of the EU’s unlawful decision at Charleroi. We look forward to the European Court of First Instance forcing the European Commission to end their discrimination by addressing the real and repeated breaches of state aid to flag carriers which they have ignored for the past two years. The European Commission continues to adopt a biased and discriminatory approach to State aid cases by repeatedly ignoring Ryanair complaints about Euro billions of state aid provided to inefficient flag carriers" Michael O' Leary - head of Ryanair Airlines.
