With South Africa's summer drawing ever nearer we carried out a survey of flights from London to Johannesburg and back. Up to now we've carried out surveys of one-way flights, but as long-haul flights offer considerable discounts for return tickets, we have changed to surveying return flights.

Iberia cheapest flight to Johannesburg

We looked at return flights which were within a week of 15th Nov and 6th December and Iberia offered the cheapest return flight from London to Johannesburg, at £449:

• Iberia flight IB7647 leaves London Gatwick on the 15th Nov at 1650 and arrives in Madrid (Barajas) at 2010. Iberia flight IB6051 leaves Madrid at 0030 and arrives in Johannesburg at 1135.

• Iberia flight IB6050 leaves Johannesburg on the 6th Dec at 2215 and arrives in Madrid (Barajas) at 0725. Iberia flight IB6051 leaves Madrid at 0845 and arrives in London Gatwick at 1005.
