• 31 Mar 2013. Air Botswana initially planned to introduces flights from Lanseria to Gaborone on 28 October, but postponed it to 31 March 2013, and then in the end scrapped the plan. The idea was for Flight BP302 to leave Lanseria Airport at 08h50 & arrive in Gaborone at 09h50, AND Flight BP304 to leave Lanseria at 18h00 & land in Gaborone at 19h00.

• Feb 2013. A "Pula Lounge" is opened at Sir Seretse Khama International Airport, for guests to relax and conduct business in before their flight. The lounge is open to Air Botswana's Teemane Club members.

• 2 Sep 2012. SA Express introduces a 6th daily flight on the JNB - Gaborone route.

• 7 Aug 2011. SAA withdraws from the Johannesburg - Gaborone flight route.

• 1 Sep 2011. Comair originally planned to commence Johannesburg Lanseria to Gaborone, under the BA brand on 30 May, but this was postponed to 1 September.

• 23 Mar 2009. SAA made its maiden flight from Johannesburg to Gabarone on 23 March 2009. It is operating 13 weekly flights (two daily, except Saturdays when there is one flight) in an Airbus A319 with 25 seats.

"We barely made it to our connection in Johannesburg to Gaborone because of the delay in Washington, but we did, and boarded onto a tiny propeller plane. It was very bumpy but thankfully short...My room  (the picture below) is separate from the house, it is across the yard from the actual house. At first this freaked me out that I would be there alone, but now I’m so appreciative to have my own space...Botswana is hot, and dry, very dry. But trees are in full bloom with beautiful flowers and I fall asleep to the sound of percussion, roosters crowing, and dogs barking. Not exactly Brahms lullabies, but I actually like it. Road trip

A road trip from the Intercontinental at Johannesburg O.R. Tambo International Airport to Gaborone is some 421km or 5 hours, taking you along the N4 through Brits, Zeerust and the Madikwe Nature Reserve.

Intercape operates bus trips between Johannesburg and Gaborone (takes some 6 hours). The address of their bus stop in Gaborone is on Queens Road, at the Kudu Shell Petrol Station.
