History

8 Jul 2009

Bellview Airlines announces the suspension of its Johannesburg - Lagos flights until 31 Mar 2010, as a result of over-capacity on the route. “In the first quarter of 2009 alone, frequency between Lagos and Johannesburg has been increased indiscriminately from six to fifteen weekly flights. This indiscriminate increase is not supported by logical market demand, serving only to erode yield on the route. This over capacity is occurring at a time of global weakening demand occasioned by effects of the global economic recession.  No airline can claim to be profitable on this route at the current fare levels,” Bellview Airline spokesman, Mr. Habib Mohammed
