Airlink begins a 2nd morning flight from Pietermaritzburg to Johannesburg O.R. Tambo Airport, leaving PZB at 08h30 and arriving at JNB at 09h30.  Airlink’s Marketing and Sales Manager, Karin Murray, said that “At the inception of the jet service our Pietermaritzburg resident business travellers asked us if we could both move our morning flight out of Pietermaritzburg earlier (dept PZB 06h45 arr JNB 07h45), as well as also making our evening flight out of OR Tambo a little later (dept JNB 18h00 arr PZB 19h00). These preferred flight times are as a result of the time required to travel to and from OR Tambo to their meetings in the Gauteng area. With the completion of the Pietermaritzburg runway rehabilitation project, we are now able to operate both earlier from, and later to, Pietermaritzburg airport and are very pleased to be able to inform our regular travellers that we have been able to satisfy their request.”

South African Airlink reintroduces its early morning flights from Pietermaritzburg to Johannesburg, leaving Pietermaritzburg at 06h45 and arriving in Johannesburg at 08h10. The service operates Mondays to Friday and Sundays to accommodate the increasing demand for early morning travel out of Kwazulu Natal to Johannesburg.

It's reported that Pietermaritzburg municipality (Msunduzi) officials, fed up with the below par service they are receiving from SA Airlink, have appealed to other airlines to start flying from Johannesburg to Pietermaritzburg
