Kulula World Cup prices

26 Feb 2010

Here's some news from Kulula on World Cup flight prices (NB: before booking with an airline compare prices using the flight price comparison tool).

Get ready for the lowest airfares this World Cup

Kulula have challenged all South African airlines to lower their airfares during the World Cup. In their own words: "Since the World Cup draw, at the beginning of December 2009, we have consistently offered the lowest airfares. We have even acquired an additional 28 000 seats, on our new Boeing 737-800 aircraft, just to cater for our World Cup fans. Plans have already been put into place to provide an additional 15 000 seats if demand for World Cup seats grows.

'It's our policy to rather add more flights than to rely on pushing prices up. If you compare the prices of domestic flights during the tournament, our prices are the lowest, finished and klaar. We invite consumers to compare fares for themselves and we challenge all airlines to reduce their prices,' said kulula executive Heidi Brauer. (She's the big cheese in marketing). Most of the additional seats have been added to our Lanseria schedule. These flights have proven to be a popular choice for World Cup travellers for its ease of use and low cost flights. Kulula flights from that airport during June 2010 are being sold from as little as R519

It's important to note that fares closer to the time are likely to increase and fans are encouraged to book seats sooner rather than later.

"The World Cup should not be seen as a 'get rich quick' scheme. One quick visit to our site will settle any remaining unnecessary worries about World Cup pricing. Now we can all concentrate on putting on the greatest show on earth!" Brauer concluded. "

Attention, attention! Calling all fans using Durbs Airport

This is just a friendly reminder that as from the
1st May 2010, all flights to and from Durban International will operate out of King Shaka International Airport north of Durban. As we've mentioned before, we don't agree with the Airports Company of South Africa's (ACSA) idea to spend more than R7.5 billion on building a new airport far out from the existing one, when simple upgrades to Durban International Airport would not only have saved our tax payer money, but would not have caused anyone the great inconvenience we are now faced with because of this move.

Anyhoo, unfortunately we are being forced to move to the new airport and we'd just like to remind you that ALL flights from the 1st May 2010 will fly to/from the new King Shaka International Airport. Don't forget to allow yourself some extra time to get there if you are departing from the airport, and remind your chauffeur service (aka. spouse, family member, friend etc) about the new pick up point.
