22 March 2007. One would think that people had learnt by now that they mustn't make jokes about bombs or hijacking planes at airports. Apparently not. According to a Sunday Times report (yes, they don't only report on Sundays), a Mango Airlines passenger was arrested today at Cape Town International Airport for allegedly falsely informing a "a flight attendant he was carrying an explosive device" (after boarding the flight), this also resulted in the flight (JE322) being delayed by 18 minutes.

In South Africa it seems that the penalty for saying you've got a bomb is being arrested and then later charges are dropped. I wonder what type of penalty this would result in, if the same were to occur at Firefly Airlines (a similar airline to Mango but based in Malaysia).
