Kulula's dodgy specials

15 March 2007

The last time Kulula had a half-price special (in January), their flight prices were higher than prices for Mango flights (some special!). For the record the cost of a Kulula return ticket for a Johannesburg to Cape Town flight was R598 in January (this contrasted with a similar Mango flight costing R498). I was very interested to see whether Mango Airlines are still trumping Kulula's specials.

Kulula's website advertised the special as lasting for flights from the 3rd May 2007 until the end of July 2007. I decided to do a comparison for flights leaving on Friday the 27th July from Johannesburg (after 1800) and coming back to Cape Town on Sunday the 20th July (after 1300)...I like flying weekends.

Kulula's dodgy specials

Once again Kulula don't have the cheapest flights during their own special (higher than 1time and Mango) - I'm starting to wonder about these dodgy specials of theirs. Either they were sold out really quickly or their specials aren't really that special.

1time airlines you beauty

1time airlines came in with the wonderfully low price of R496...this even beats Mango's January flight low of R498. And they didn't even advertise it much! Hats off and Kudos to 1time. Mango airlines also ousted Kulula with its R598.

Nationwide airlines - disgraceful

Nationwide airlines are charging R1254, a disgracefully high fare, especially given the fact that they Nationwide don't serve meals on economy class anymore.
