The future is already here, it's just not evenly spread out. Malaysia's Firefly Airlines is so similar to South Africa's Mango Airlines, it's scary. The state-owned carrier, Malaysia Airlines was bleeding business (sounds similar to SAA's story) - its solution was to start a low-cost carrier called Firely Airlines - SAA had exactly the same solution, except they called it Mango Airlines!!
Now, get this - the corporate colour of Firefly Airlines is Orange, just like Mango's.

And just like Mango gave away ultra-cheap flights in December 2006, Firefly Airlines is giving away 200 "free" airline tickets in April 2007 - they call them free, but this excludes Airport taxes.
The web-strategies are also similar - i.e. not a lot of thought seems to have gone into it! Just like Mango Airlines did not own www.mango.co.za, Firefly does not own www.firefly.com.my or www.flyfirefly.com. Firefly Airlines have decided to use the url www.fireflyz.com.my (with all the connotation that putting a z at the end of a name has on it on the internet). Given that most airline tickets are sold online, this seems a bit short-sited of them.
