British Airways fight to London

24 June 2007

British Airways - brings out the fight in youOn a British Airways flight from Lagos (Nigeria) to London's Heathrow Airport a fight broke out after a passenger reclined his seat and refused to put it back up when the passenger behind him complained. Not liking having the seat on his lap, the passenger sitting behind punched the other passenger. A fight broke out, with the two passengers' friends joining in. The captain of the British Airways flight requested an emergency landing at London's Heathrow.

Packed like sardines

We've made a fuss of the fact that unlike on British Airways flights, the seats on South African Airways flights in front of the seats next to the overwing exits do not fold back (see British Airways flight seating). A general problem with seating in the planes is that the back row seats don't recline; meaning if somebody in the second-last row puts their seat back then somebody in the last row has a seat on top of his lap. Even in seats which do recline, conditions are cramped; and so it is no surprise that occasionally passengers lose it.
