19 January 2007 - Those of you who followed my cheap flight tips and got onto Kulula.com's email list will know that today they are offering half-price tickets. Mr Cheap Flights decided to go and investigate exactly how cheap the flights are. Well, the in-laws are flying from Johannesburg to Cape Town in March, so it makes sense to look at the prices on the 16th March.
Well, if the father-in-law is willing to leave Johannesburg at 1000 on the Tuesday the 20th March (R299) and fly back to Johannesburg at 1020 on Wednesday the 26th March (R299), the return ticket to Cape Town comes to a total of R598. Great price!!
However, if you fly Mango Airlines on Friday the 23rd at 2030 (also Johannesburg to Cape Town) and back on Saturday the 31st March at 1445 the total flight price comes to R498.
Mango trumps Kulula! So, if you'd followed Mr Cheap Flights' other tip of going through every airline's prices would have found this price (and of course you should check the rest of the airlines' prices - it's pays to be thorough).
Seems like the added competition Mango has added combined with the low oil price is resulting in amazingly low airline ticket prices....one helluva good thing for us consumers.
I'm impressed with Kulula's
