India's Jet Airways may open South Africa route

9 January 2007 - Jet Airways, India's largest private airline, announced new flights from New Delhi and Calcutta to the Thai capital Bangkok.

At the same time, the airline announced plans to open a route to Newark in the US this August, followed by destinations in China, Canada, Europe and flights to South Africa.

That's really great news - although South African Airways might not think so, the more competition in the South Africa airs the cheaper flights will be.

And once you get to India, it's relatively cheap to travel around there - they've got a few low cost carriers including Spicejet, MDLR Airlines and Jetlite Airlines (which is owned by Jet Airways, and was previously known as Air Sahara), Go Air, Jagson Airlilnes and Indigo airline.
