I was bribed by South African Airways

A few times I've read about the awards won by South African airways, and wondered how an airline which is so often slated manages to win these awards.

Floating innocently Into my inbox this week, was a South African Airways email informing me of the latest "Freddie Awards". For the blissfully ignorant who haven't heard of the Freddie Award - each year, the Annual Freddie’s Awards recognizes the most outstanding frequent travel programs internationally, as determined by the traveling public.

South African Airways presumably emails all their Voyager members and pays them (in the form of 500 Voyager miles with filthy corrupt sludge dripping from them) to vote on the Freddie Awards. That's akin to the African National Congress going to all ANC members and paying them R50 to go and vote on election day.

Needless to say, I am beginning to understand the techniques South African Airways uses to get metal on their mantelpiece.

In order to restore some balance to the universe, go to www.freddieawards.com and cast your vote for your favourite airline (and hotel group).
