29 April 2007. In this week's cheap flights survey we gave our frequent flyer award to the Judge President of the Labour Court, Raymond Zondo, who has been raking in the air miles on flights between Durban and Johannesburg. Hot on the judge's heels is Minister of Safety & Security, Charles Nqakula, who undertook an unprecedented trip to London to "reassure
foreign investors that South Africa is serious about tackling crime". Nqakula is considering similar trips to Austria & Italy. In this correspondent's experience police stations are manned by partially literate policemen, who don't answer their phones and still fill in crime dockets with pens, with the only purpose for filling in said dockets being to get a case number to file with one's insurers. Nice try Charles, but it's impossible to take a police force which don't even answer telephone calls seriously.
