As well as the Western Cape (largely Cape Town) being home to over 3000 companies & individuals providing services to the film industry, there are about 2000 people with expertise as film crew. During 2003 there were 35 features films, 1250 stills campaigns & 500 commercials shot in the Western Cape. This is as a result not only of the expertise available, but also the low cost of production in the Western Cape (relative to, for instance, Australia, America & Europe).
The vast situational variety & contrasts enclosed in the small area of the Western Cape makes filming here very attractive.
