Kimberley |
Founded in 1871 when diamonds were found on a nearby farm. Kimberley is to the big hole and its museum, South Africa's first Stock Exchange was established in Kimberley and Kimberley was also the first South African city with street lighting. The Cullinan I (530.2 carats) and Cullinan II (317.4 carats) diamonds were mined in Kimberley's big hole, they are set in the Imperial Sceptre and the Imperial State Crown (respectively) and can be view in the Tower of London. |
