Hillbrow is a downtrodden suburb of Johannesburg, where drug-dealing and prostitution is rife, and people walk the streets in the unhurried fashion of the jobless.
The "Door of Hope" in Hillbrow Street is symptomatic of the area's problems - it provides a door through which unwanted babies can be passed through, rather than letting them die in dustbins or neglect. By April 2006, almost 30 babies had been placed in the "Door of Hope".
