The Purple shall rule! "As I flew into Cape Town I began to get really excited. Now, I know that the landing strips are strategically placed for the most efficient and safe wind and air traffic direction. But, on that plane I swore that the Minister of Tourism himself designed that landing just for me and every other tourist on the flight. It was just too perfect.  As you fly in, Table Mountain shines on your right and the streets and buildings of Cape Town sparkle just below it, extending out to the beautiful ocean.  As I walked out of the plane, a big poster stared me straight on: 'Proudly African, Truly International' it read". The Bottom Line: Some notes from a UN report on Trade & Development released on the 5th July:
- "South Africa entered the list of top prospective economies, ranking 14th with the Netherlands & Poland."
- South Africa receives less FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) than "could be expected based on economic determinants", although there was a rebound in 2011.
- "India remained the largest investor in LDCs (I assume this stands for Least Developed Countries) from developing & transition economies, followed by China and South Africa." (part of South Africa's was an investment by Sasol in Mozambique)
- The largest greenfields investment in SIDS in 2011 was an investment by Harmony Gold Mining Company in Papua New Guinea, the second largest was building construction in Mauritius by Atterbury Property Developments.
