When you meet someone new one of the conversations that’s inevitable to arise is the “so… what do you do?” one. Nice and formal right? I wish. This year I’ve been telling people that I handle bookings for southern African cruises – and that’s about how far I get with my explanation. No matter who I’m speaking to, I’m yet to meet an individual who doesn’t interrupt me to ask, “MSC cruises? You mean the Sinfonia and the Melody?!”. And the interaction is rather doomed going forward because I always suspect they’re just being friendly to get a good discount out of me. You know that feeling? It’s a bit hard to avoid when they keep bringing the subject back to how nice it would be to take a cruise.
Although I feel used I rather enjoy the sucking up that ensues and I don’t break it to them that Victor and Chelna (my co-cruise-bookers) would give them cool discounts without even charging them friendship. And when I casually drop into conversation that I can organise 40% discounts, get two of their friends on the ship for free, and hook them up with VIP boarding – who would believe that I’m not pulling a couple of strings?

Ntokozo has some feedback about the Southgate Road Lodge: "Road Lodge -Southgate, Johannesburg- I was so surprised that there was no room coffee/tea facilities it's winter in Jozi.Their bathroom was so freezing and there was only soap (no shower cap, tooth paste, shower gel) why do I have to call the reception for that it's not nice to go up & down after a long day :( . The heater was blowing normal air instead of warm air I felt so cold Jozi is cold nowadays.The staff is so friendly I did joined them for their breakfast without bacon or muesli, my stay was not good at all will try somewhere else as I will be travelling to Johannesburg weekly."
