The City Lodge Hotel at Joburg airport is offering a R252 discount on its usual price (now R470, usually R722), and Town Lodge a R205 discount - making these establishments well worth a visit should you be in transit around Johannesburg International Airport. An unusual anomaly is that the Road Lodge is now more expensive than a night at the Town Lodge, but this anomaly will no doubt dissapear when the discounts go.

Interesting that some hotels have actually increased their prices (Intercontinental & Protea Hotel Wanderers), at the same time as others are offering discounts.
I'm so glad I found Tanshuwen's blog. Tanushwen visited Cape Town from Malaysia and wrote a stunning piece about her trip here, and shared photos of her experience (and not all the standard tourist fare I'll have you know). Her and the rest of her posse rented an Avis car in Cape Town (nothing less than a Mercedes Benz) and a GPS to help them get around. In Cape Town they saw Canal Walk, Table Mountain road and the views of Cape Town (wind was too strong to go up the cable car). Tanshuwe's blog includes a number of posts about Cape Town, and is well worth a read.
