Cape Town's Holiday Inn Express has 175 hotel rooms each containing coffee and tea utensils, DSTV, a shower, safe. Guests may make use of abusiness centre with internet access. The Holiday Inn Express does not have a restaurant, but offers breakfast and a bar. The rooms have showers instead of baths, and a convertible sofa for children up to the age of 14.
Amabubesi Investments was co-founded by Sango Ntsabula (a chartered accountant and the chairman), Thabiso Tlelai (a non-executive director) and Peter Moyo (of Alexander Forbes fame and previously deputy CEO of Old Mutual South Africa). The word "Amabubesi" is from the Nguni language and associated with a pride of lions.

Intercontinental Hotels Group opens the first Holiday Inn Express in South Africa, in Cape Town's St George's Mall. This is a 175-roomed hotel in St George's Mall, which was completed at a cost of some R130m. Constructed together with ISO Leisure, Cape Town's Holiday Inn Express is the first of 25 that the Intercontinental Hotels Group plans to build in South Africa together with ISO Leisure. Cape Town's Holiday Inn Express is in the busy city centre, has views of Table Mountain and is close to the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront. |
