15 Dec 2009	City Lodge Fourways announces the opening of 61 of its 211 rooms.
Oct 2009	At their annual conference in Polokwane, the following achievements were recognised: Business Driver of the Year Award goest to Morne Bester, the General Manager of Town Lodge Midrand Chairman�s Award to Clive Hadebe, the assistant manager of Road Lodge Carnival City. Sep 2009	It is confirmed that the City Lodge Hotel Group has purchased land near Lanseria Airport (in Cradle City Business Park) with the intention of developing a hotel.
May 2009	Construction begins on the 187 room City Lodge Hatfield.
Apr 2009	Work begins on the City Lodge Lynwood (202 rooms).
Q4 2008	Construction begins on a 200-roomed City Lodge in Fourways (Johannesburg), a 150-roomed City Lodge in Hatfield (Pretoria) and a 200-roomed City Lodge in Lynnwood (Pretoria).
2 Aug 2008	City Lodge Hotel runs some close-to half-price specials across the country.
May 2008	The Johannesburg Airport City Lodge adds 59 rooms and the Grandwest City Lodge adds 56 rooms.
2007	Jessie Sheba, a staff member of the City Lodge at Johannesburg OR Tambo Airport, receives the "guest attendant of the year 2007 award" from the Housekeepers Association of South Africa.
1 Aug 2007	Naynesh Parbhoo is appointed to City Lodge's executive committee as accounting director.
2006	City Lodge launches a project called "On Top of our Game", an initiative aiming to improve service levels and draws analogies with the Soccer World Cup 2010.
1 Mar 2006	Mr Stuart Morris and Mrs Ndumi Mdupe are appointed non-executive directors
10 Nov 2005	Mr David C Coutts-Trotter (BBus Sci, BAcc, CASA) and Mr DA "Buddy" Hawton resign from the board. Coutts Trotter and Hawton were representatives of Sun International, and resigned as a result of Sun International selling its City Lodge Hotel shares.
2005	Sun International announces that it will be selling its 36.8% share ownership of the City Lodge Hotel group.
2005	An internet based incentive scheme is set up, called the Lodger Club.
2004	Net profit in excess of R100m is recorded for the first time.
2004	City Lodge Hotels Limited is included in the Johannesburg Stock Exchange's SRI Index (one of 51 companies included in the index, of which only two are small cap stocks).
2004	The V&A Waterfront's City Lodge has 44 rooms added.
2004	City Lodge Umhlanga Ridge is opened next to the Gateway shopping centre.
1 July 2003	- City Lodge's founder, Hans Enderle, becomes a non-executive chairman thereby relinquishing his executive functions. - City Lodge appoints a new Chief Executive Officer, Clifford Ross. - Bill Dickson, a founding director of City Lodge, retires.
2003	Gary Bisset and Tony Balabanoff (executive directors) stand down from the City Lodge board in order to attain a better ratio of executive to non-executive directors.
18 June 2003	The group sells its millionth room-night in the financial year, a first.
2001	City Lodges establishes an academy to train its future executives.

1998	An online reservations system is implemented.
1 Aug 1995	The group launches an Employees Share trust, allowing for all employees to become shareholders.
1994	Kersaf becomes a major shareholder in City Lodge hotel group.
1993	City Lodge Victoria and Alfred Waterfront (164 rooms) and City Lodge Sandton Morningside (161 rooms) are opened.
23 Sep 1992	A share incentive trust scheme is adopted to replace the City Lodge Executive Employee Incentive Scheme, in order to enable group executives to acquire an equity interest in City Lodge Hotels Limited.
18 Nov 1992	The City Lodge Hotel group lists on the JSE (in the Beverage and Hotels sector), with each staff member being given a hundred shares in the company (staff members were also able to apply for shares on the same basis as institutions). At the same time, 13636364 unsecured compulsorily convertible subordinated debentures of R5.50 were issued and listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. These debentures are compulsorily converted into ordinary shares on the basis of one ordinary share for each debenture converted, with effect from 1 August of the financial year following that in which the total dividend declared on each ordinary share is equal to or exceeds 60.5 cents, i.e. the annual interest paid in cents on each debenture.
1991	The City Lodge board appoints Clifford Ross as operations director.
16 Nov 1989	In terms of an authority granted by the shareholders, the City Lodge Executive Employee Incentive Sheme is approved and adopted by the directors, and a total of 1500000 ordinary shares of 10 cents each are created for the future requirements of the scheme.
1989	Bloemfontein and Pinelands' City Lodges are opened. The City Lodge Hotel in Pinelands is the first hotel on a golf course in a major South African city.
1988	Port Elizabeth and Durban's City Lodges are opened.
1987	The Sandton City Lodge in Katherine Street opens, as does the City Lodge at Johannesburg OR Tambo International Airport (then Jan Smuts International Airport).
1986	"Team scheme" is launched, enabling groups booking four or more room on weekends to benefit from group discounts.
Jul 1986	The City Lodge Hotel group is incorporated.
1 Aug 1985	The brainchild of Swiss-born Hans Enderle, the first City Lodge Hotel opens in the Bryanston/Randburg suburb of Johannesburg, with 123 rooms.
