7 Jun 2008. From 1 July 2008 FNB is changing its credit card fee structure from a flat monthly fee for silver, gold and platinum credit cards; to a lower fee for silver credit card holders and a higher fee for gold and platinum credit card holders.

Does the new structure really represent a different in costs, or is this just opportunism? FNB justify the higher platinum credit card fees by drawing attention to the fact that their smart, silver and gold credit card holders only have a 12 hour call centre operating from 7am to 7pm, whereas a 24 hour call centre is offered to their platinum credit card clients.
R150 p.a. more to use eBucks
And if the above fee increase wasn't enough, FNB are from 1 July 2008 charging you R150 per annum if you want to link your credit card to earn eBucks. On the plus side you no longer have to spend R500 in the month before you start earning eBucks.
Free declined transaction
Also on the plus side, if a transaction at an FNB ATM is declined, you will no longer be charged R2.65 for the declined transaction.
